Landmark Preservation
History
451 Broome Street, a historic landmark built in 1895, originally served as the Silk Exchange office, showcasing Manhattan’s role in global trade.
Designed by architect John Townsend Williams, its 12-story façade is a masterpiece reminiscent of a wedding cake. Over the years, it has been a center of innovation, housing offices like Casket, a trade publication in 1930. Today, nestled in the Soho-Cast Iron Historic District, it stands as a testament to endurance and elegance in the heart of New York City.
