Landmark Preservation
History
Originally built in 1898, 867 Madison Avenue stands as an architectural gem in the heart of New York City. Built in the Beaux Arts style, his magnificent structure, known as the Rhinelander Mansion, earned the title of landmark in 2001 by the Landmark preservation Commission.
Nearly a century later in 1983, fashion icon Ralph Lauren transformed the mansion into a flagship store. Under his guidance, the mansion underwent meticulous renovations, ensuring its historical significance remained intact.
Today, our restoration project aims to honor the legacy of 867 Madison Avenue while ensuring its longevity for generations to come. Led by Howard Zimmerman Architects and AMP Engineers, DPC, our team is dedicated to preserving the mansion’s architectural integrity.
