Terminal Warehouse
261-11th Avenue, New York, NY 10001
History
Built in 1891, New York City’s Terminal Warehouse has a rich history. Originally a hub for goods transportation, it served various purposes over the decades. From a train terminal for the NY Central Railroad to storing Broadway sets and providing cold relief during summers.
The building once accommodated freight trains via a tunnel, but due to incidents at street level, the High Line emerged. In the ’80s, it became “The Tunnel,” a renowned nightclub immortalized in films like American Psycho. In 2001, “The Tunnel” closed, marking the end of an era. But in the early to mid-2000s, the warehouse transformed again, now hosting offices, retail spaces, and galleries.
Today, ongoing restoration efforts are breathing new life into the building. Recently, landmark shutters were replaced as part of the revitalization. Join us as we contribute to preserving the legacy of this iconic structure
